Tough Week in Fort Worth
What's up everybody? How have yall been doing? It's been a super gloomy week out here, I don't believe that I have ever seen any weather quite like this, we have gotten so much rain over the last week or so. Ive almost forgotten what the sun looks like. It was a rough one for sure.
Basically if yall havent heard the news, a couple of Elders up in the Denton zone were driving through a thunderstorm on a one lane highway, coming back from a cancelled service project, and got into a head on collision, and unfortunately they both passed away. It was really sad.
Their names were Elder Eli Fowler and Elder Luke Carter, and they were both super new to the mission. My comp Elder Austin was in the MTC district with Elder Carter, and was best friends with him, so he introduced him to me at transfers awhile back. We talked a bit about pokemon before we had to go. He was such a light, even though I only met him for a bit, you could tell that he cared about everyone. Elder Fowler was the same way, before he went home due to covid last year, he served in my current ward. I have heard nothing but good things about him as well. It is really sad.
We had a zoom call Wednesday morning where it was announced that these two Elders had died, and I was pretty sad. My comp was bawling, it was so tough. I went out to the porch to catch some fresh air and I saw a picture of Jesus Christ that we put on our tiwi box. Suddenly it hit me that this wouldn't be the end of their missionary service. A quote from The Living Christ popped up in my head. "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!"
It was a hard week for the Texas Fort Worth Mission. But we are all comforted in knowing that these wonderful missionaries are still continuing their service that they loved so much on the other side of the veil. Yall go read Mosiah 16: 7-8, yall need to read the Book of Mormon anyways haha.
Anyways, as always, the work must go on here in Texas, so we still got some good work done this week. Great things coming from the 6th ward Elders next week, we have a ton of solid referrals and people we are going to start working with coming soon. I am super stoked to get back to work. Oh and the Carter family will be visiting Texas this week, so we get to go on the tour thing with them because Elder Austin was really good friends with Elder Carter.
That's about all I really wanted to talk about this week, I love all of yall, please stay safe driving! Hope yall have a wonderful week.
Love yourz
